Manchester United fans have urged Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to find room for Daniel James in his next team selection.
The Norwegian will find it difficult to make any changes from the team that thrashed Chelsea 4-0 in United’s opening day of the season, as new boys Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka impressed from the start and Marcus Rashford bagged a brace.
But fellow new signing James came off the bench to have a big impact on his competitive United debut, scoring the Reds’ fourth goal before celebrating jubilantly in front of the Stretford End to cap a dream debut.
His performance has prompted United fans to vote for him to be included in United’s next game against Wolves at Molineux on Monday night.
In response to a poll by MEN Sport, which asked: “Which of these players, if any, should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer bring into his Manchester United side against Wolves?” the biggest share of the vote went for James, with Mason Greenwood, Juan Mata and “no changes” the other options.
A 46 per cent share was enough for James to come out on top, though 25 per cent of the near-5,000 respondents believed Solskjaer shouldn’t make any changes at all, while 23 per cent voted for Greenwood and just seven per cent for Mata.
Solskjaer picked Andreas Pereira in the No.10 role and Jesse Lingard on the right against Chelsea, after installing Maguire and Wan-Bissaka straight into his back four, alongside Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw.
Wolves will post a different test for United, whose victory owed much to their own speed and ruthlessness on the counter-attack, as well as some Chelsea mistakes in defence and profligacy in front of goal.
United lost both games they played at Molineux last season by a 2-1 scoreline, both damaging results to the Reds hopes of winning the FA Cup and finishing in the Premier League top four.
